Almost Famous, Manchester

This is going to be a lazy one and I’m not going to apologise for it, damnit. Our buddy Adam was in town and we went out for burgers and beers at Almost Famous, a hugely popular burger joint found in the Great Northern Warehouse as well as satelite branches in Liverpool and Leeds. It’s very cool and the food is fabulous and excellent value, so it seems only right to share a few snaps.

‘Famous’ (Jane’s burger) - Double cheeseburger, salad stack, pickles, ‘famous sauce’, and bacon ketchup

‘Blame it on the Whiskey’ (Adam’s burger) - double cheeseburger, wonderdusted waffle fries, chipotle hot honey, BBQ pork, crispy pepperoni, jalapeno and onion, ‘bacon bacon’ mayo, and redneck BBQ, and Cholula

‘Butter, Blood & Bleu’ (Sarah’s burger) - Double cheeseburger, wonderbuttered 4oz steak, chorizo, peppercorn sauce, creamy bleu cheese sauce, wonderdusted waffle fries, wonder onions, and magic mayo

Oh baby

‘Wonder Tots’ - Wonderdusted tots, chipotle hot honey, ‘bacon bacon’ mayo, bacon rain, jalapeno and onion

‘Pig & Waffle Fries’ - Waffle fries, pulled pork, jalapeno and onion, redneck BBQ, and bleu cheese sauce

All that set us back about £22 per head including drinks and tip, which is outrageously good value for the quality of food and ambiance. Already looking forward to our next visit.

And what about the toast sandwich?
Sarah: The strips of chewy, spicy chorizo on my burger worked so well with the steak and bleu cheese. I think putting chorizo on a burger may be my new thing.
Jane: The pulled pork on the Pig & Waffle Fries, which was sweet with a good whiskey kick. Coming from a girl from the home of pulled pork, this is high praise indeed.
